Acne and Sugar : More on the Connection
I know that I’ve pounded this into your head by now, and I’m sorry if this is a “repeat” of any past thoughts posted in this magazine, but I just wanted to confirm/reiterate the fact that sugary sweets and snacks otherwise considered “junk food”, I feel, through repeat experiences, definitely cause my face to flare up with new acne spots.
Just another example, I couldn’t help myself this past weekend, because I was really craving sweets, although I know what it does to my face at this point. So I went on a bit of a “sugar bender” and I think I probably ate something sweet after almost every meal.
After breakfast I at pop tarts with brown sugar and a sugar coated frosting on them. Then, because we all know sugar only makes us hungrier, I treated myself to some mini peanut butter cookies at the mall from the Cookie shop (they were delightful, so I’d almost say those made it all worth it). Then, after dinner it was a Dairy Queen blizzard.
I knew darn well my face would look like it went through WWII in the next day or two, but I guess I just didn’t much care that day. Well, it’s not my face that broke out – it was my chest that got acne on it! That’s right, my chest broke out in little acne irritation bumps – including two bigger red ones. I guess I should be grateful it was my chest right?
