Loma Lux Homeopathic Acne Remedy

July 21, 2006
By

Tweet Loma Lux Homeopathic Acne pills are a natural, homeopathic acne remedy that is available in retail stores so far only at Target, as far as I know. They are about $20 a bottle, which I believe will last you 60 days or so, and they work by the principal of what’s called homeopathy, where many ingredients believed to help acne are added in VERY SMALL dosages to the formula. Loma Lux Laboratories says they are a dedicated laboratory in promoting worldwide health through natural means, more specifically through the idea of homeopathy, where natural, low dose, low side...

Facial Steaming Not Good for Acne?

July 20, 2006
By

Tweet I ran a piece about how to steam your face, yourself, in your own home, rather than going to a salon and getting a professional facial, and then I ran across an interesting piece of information on steaming the face and the effect it may have on your skin if you have acne problems.   It said that excessive facial steaming may actually leave people with acne prone skin more prone to breaking out.  Why?  Because the steaming action may actually swell the skin’s top layer, which can trap oil, dirt and  bacteria in the pores and cause acne...

Nutritional Supplements for Acne

July 18, 2006
By

Tweet A lot of people who have acne seek out natural nutritional supplements that will help their acne clear up and maybe even help their skin out in other ways as well.  If you walk down the vitamin aisle at any grocery or drug store now, you probably see a few vitamin formulas or nutritional supplement formulas for acne or for basic skin care and beauty maintenance.  Most of these nutritional supplements are formulated with ingredients like natural herbs, botanicals and vitamins that have historically shown a property which helps the skin to defend itself against free radicals.  Say...

Sugar Also Bad for Aging?

July 17, 2006
By

Tweet Not only is sugar a surefire way to get a new acne breakout going on your face, but a lot of the newer research suggests that sugar is also a factor in the aging process of the skin, another good reason to minimize sugar in the diet.  The reason we now think that sugar causes aging to accelerate is that sugar becomes unused energy more easily than other more complex carbs, and so it becomes like “excess energy”, which in essence also becomes fat.  The aging link to this is that molecules that are used for energy join...

The Acne Cure : Book Review

July 17, 2006
By

Tweet The Acne Cure is on of the many books that has been written on how to conquer skin conditions, including acne, on your own with various regimens, supplements and so on.  It’s written by Terry Dubrow and Brenda Adderly, whose credentials are that one is a doctor – of dermatology, I assume, as I couldn’t get that info on the reviews I read on the book.  The Acne Cure purports to help you get rid of acne by following a fairly strict skin care regimen, and getting rid of acne without prescription drugs, side effects, or a change...

Acne and Sugar : More on the Connection

July 16, 2006
By

Tweet I know that I’ve pounded this into your head by now, and I’m sorry if this is a “repeat” of any past thoughts posted in this magazine, but I just wanted to confirm/reiterate the fact that sugary sweets and snacks otherwise considered “junk food”, I feel, through repeat experiences, definitely cause my face to flare up with new acne spots. Just another example, I couldn’t help myself this past weekend, because I was really craving sweets, although I know what it does to my face at this point. So I went on a bit of a “sugar bender”...

Differin Acne Products Get Mixed Reviews

July 15, 2006
By

Tweet Reviews of a fairly popular and well known prescription topical acne medication called Differin seem to be widely mixed. Differin is a dermatologist prescribed topical acne treatment formula that comes in either a gel or a cream. It claims to be gentle to your skin, and yet effectively treat acne lesions as well as prevent new ones from forming. The gel is an odor free topical gel which is also free of oil and alcohol, which is an obvious plus. The idea is that the gel or cream gets down deep into the pores and helps to control...

Heat Rash or Acne?

July 14, 2006
By

Tweet Have you ever had a really long day out in the hot sun, like say if you’ve ever gone to an amusement park with blacktop and the sun is beating off of it all day long, drenching you in sweat and making your face a veritable oil slick? Well, on days like this, many people notice that they break out in little bumps on their forehead and maybe sometimes elsewhere on their face like their chin. So is this acne, or is it something else? Since the tiny little acne bumps that some people get do greatly resemble...

Good Foundation for Acne

July 13, 2006
By

Tweet I think I found a pretty good foundation for skin types that are acne prone. It’s a newer line by Revlon called “Soft Flex”, and it’s supposedly like wearing no foundation at all. Now, I wouldn’t go so far to say that it makes me feel as though I’m not wearing any makeup, but it certainly is “comfortable”, and it doesn’t feel as if it’s cloggign my pores or making my face appear oily. It actually comes in formulas for combination skin and dry skin. I got the oily/combination formula, and am pretty happy with it thus far....
