Another, Less Known, Accutane Danger

Posted in Medical Acne Treatments by Clear Skin Consultant on the August 12th, 2006

I was reading an article about how women are ‘dying to be beautiful’ nowadays, and came across a kind of grotesque complication that can arise from taking the acne medication Accutane, or retinols and glycolic acid products.

By the way, it is alarming how many women are getting very sick or having extreme complications after receiving unauthorized treatments or products that are either too concentrated or contain undisclosed ingredients.

If you go to get your hair waxed or laser hair removal, and you are currently taking the Accutane medication, or even some prescription retinoids for acne, your skin can actually come right off along with the hair in certain cases.

This happens especially when the technician performing the hair removal is not aware the person is on Accutane, so it’s extremely important to disclose any and all medications on those disclosure forms you probably always blew off before.

Many people do not realize this, and when they go to get their eybrows or another part of their body waxed, they end up having painful complications due to a change in the skin’s chemistry from the acne medications. It is especially true for the eyebrows, since the skin in this area is especially sensitive, and may be yanked off more easily.
