What is a Comedone?

October 11, 2006

Tweet I remember looking at pages and pages of acne literature, product reviews, you name it, when I was suffering from terrible acne in my teens.  One word I would always come across that I didn’t understant at first (until of course I looked it up in the dictionary) was “comedone”.  So, what is a comedone, and what does it have to do with acne? Well, a comedone is an acne blemish basically.  A comedone is described dermatologically as a plugged pore of sebaceous (oil) and dead skin particles which are stuck in the opening of a hair follicle. Bare Minerals Foundation and My Oily Skin

October 9, 2006

Tweet Well, I know I’ve written about the Bare Minerals products before, but I had unfortunately never tried them to give you the “personal scoop” of how the products did on oily skin.  Well, now I have gone and bought the Bare Minerals starter kit at a local Sephora cosmetics store, and am happy to tell you, I think this product is working well for my oily skin, and better yet, is not causing any breakouts. Zits in Your Ears?

October 5, 2006

Tweet I’ve gotten a pimple in my ear before, and it was not pleasant at all.  As a matter of fact, it was in an obscure fold of my ear that was very hard to reach to try to dab any acne treatment product on or at least swab it out with some sort of drying or anti-infection agent.  It also hurt like heck, so it was just an overall annoyance, although I was thankful that for once I had a pimple in an area that was only known to me, and was not at all visible to the...

What is Chloracne?

October 3, 2006

Tweet Do you remember the huge news story from the Ukraine, where a politician who was running for government in a heated battle against his opponent was poisoned with dioxin? The man, who’s name is Viktor Yushchenko , was almost certainly poisoned by someone with ill intentions on his opposing political party, the poison most likely being added to his food somehow. The before and after pictures of Yushchenko are absolutely shocking. You see, large amounts of the poisonous material dioxin, which is a toxic byproduct of chemical processes, causes a skin condition, amongst other life threatening conditions, called...
