Male Acne Care After Accutane Didn’t Work

Posted in Questions by Clear Skin Consultant on the November 11th, 2007

I recently received a question from a younger man about what else he could do or should do to help treat his acne, which came back even after he was treated with the acne wonder drug Accutane.  Since he had already tried one of the most supposedly effective acne treatment drugs on the market, and it worked but only briefly, I suggested only natural acne treatments for him to try, as well as some diet and habit modification.

If anyone has anything to add, please feel free, but keep it as “nice” as you can while still discussing your side of the issue.  Noticing some commenters are not using common courtesy when posting comments, and it will be deleted if this is the case.  I don’t mind a little discussion and disagreement but dirogatory comments will be removed.  Sorry I even have to mention that, but I just wanted to keep this a place of open, yet friendly and professional discussion.

Here is the advice offered to this young male with acne :

Hello.  Have you tried a diet modification?  I know that sugary foods can many times make acne worse, and noticed that when I cut refined sugars out of my diet, it improved my skin immensely.
Also, if you can increase your intake of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory foods such as foods rich in Omega 3 fatty acids as well as other antioxidant foods like Acai berrie, pomegranate juice, raspberries and other darkly colored fruits (just do a web search on antioxidant and anti inflammatory foods and you’ll get a great list to start off) can greatly imrpove the skin because after all, acne is an inflammation, and these foods help with inflammation.
Other than that, I would suggest also managing stress and anxiety by maybe starting a new exercise regimen that involves relaxation techniques, as these can help to calm and regulate the hormones that are responsible for acne many times.
Try this first, and if not, you may want to try a natural acne remedy as well, one of my favorites is the Zenmed line of anti acne products
Hope this helps!
Good luck!!!
